Since the discovery of oil in the 1960s, the city has transformed beyond recognition. Let’s also mention the Expo 2020, as Dubai won the right to host it. It will be a massive goal to attract about 20 million tourists. Transport, but also infrastructure projects are now full steam ahead, and are attracting every single day more and more tourists who fall in love with this amazing city.

About 200 nationalities live in this modern city, and it is also very interesting to mention that it has duplicated in the past few decades. The population in 1968 was 58, 971, and in 2016, the statistics showed us a population of 2.5 million .

The number is still growing due to the economic expansion and high birth rates. Although there is a huge number of Indians settling in the UAE, the vast majority of population growth comes from the foreign workers moving to the UAE.

Emirati nationals still make up the largest ethic group and have massive influence. Today, the main contributors to the economy include trade, transport, real estate, tourism and finance.

Let us mention also the tourism in the UAE- The UAE is well ahead of many other countries in the Middle Eastin terms of travel and tourism. As you can probably guess, Dubai is perhaps the most famous tourist attraction in the UAE, with numerous hotels all over the city and amazing, famous attractions such as the Palm Jumeirah island, the Burj Al Arab hotel, Burj Khalifa, and the marina area. The Burj Khalifa is located in the famous Downtown of Dubai, and is the world’s tallest building. You should definitely take a walk around and experience the amazing fountains, which is one of the favourite tourists attractions. Or take a little boat and enjoy the wonderful sights! Located next to the Burj Khalifa, is the world’s famous, and biggest, Dubai Mall. There is absolutely everything inside, from an cinema, numerous sweet shops, luxury brand boutiques, etc.

Dubai’s popularity as a holiday destination don’t stop to increase. It is striving to reach a target of 20 million visitors a year by 2020, also due to the Expo which we have previously mentioned in our article. There is also one more interesting fact- the Dubai International Airport has ranked now as the world’s busiest airport in terms of international traffic! Al Maktoum International Airport opened in 2010 , in the south of Dubai, near Jabal Ali industrial area. It is expected to become the world’s largest airport.
